Raw Results & Captures – 05/31/10

Screen Captures | Live Digitals

Bret Hart came out seven minutes before the top of the hour. It’s worth noting the more professional look from Hart with slick, pulled back hair into a ponytail, blue jeans, and his trademark black jacket. Cole and Lawler noted the strong ovation for Hart as Lawler said he never imagined the day Hart would be back in WWE, much less GM. Hart opened his speech saying hello to Austin. Hart said he’s been GM for about a week and he’s been having so much fun. He said he got together with Smackdown GM Teddy Long to put together something real special next week. All of the stars from Raw and Smackdown will be on the show and it will be so special that they decided to make it three hours. Hart said they were talking and decided to let the fans participate. He said if the wrestlers have ideas, bring them up. He said his promise is that next week’s Raw will be a night to remember.

Suddenly, Ted DiBiase’s music hit to interrupt. Out came DiBiase along with Virgil. Apparently he wasn’t killed by the finger pinch deal by Jon Lovitz last week. Ugh. DiBiase entered the ring and said Hart should give him the show for the entire night. He said he’s willing and able to pay him and Long whatever it takes. “Is that right?” Hart asked. DiBiase told Hart not to look so smug like he can’t be bought. DiBiase said his old man said everyone has a price, and that includes Hart. DiBiase said he can buy Long off easy, but he wants to buy off Hart because he’s “above things and too good.” DiBiase said he knows why Hart came back to WWE – because he needs money. DiBiase told Hart not to let pride get in the way because all Hart needs to do is name his price.

WWE’s “Fortunate Son” was knocked silly by R-Truth at Over the Limit and couldn’t even broker a deal to buy a man’s eyeball on Monday night.

With the interruption, it was Ted DiBiase dressed in a suit with Virgil following behind him. DiBiase was in a suit with the Million Dollar Belt over his shoulder. Joe remained in the ring with Lovitz and the Bellas as DiBiase stepped up to Lovitz. DiBiase said he wants the eyeball. “How much? How much for your eyeball?” he asked. Joe said he can’t sell the eyeball. Virgil then pulled out a wad of cash. DiBiase vowed to beat up Joe, then Santino’s music hit. Santino stomped out looking determined to beat someone up. Santino said he’s mastered a trick of his own. He told “Mr. Dibikaske” that he’ll pull the trick on “Virgil” (with the same syllable emphasis like the word “virgin” for comedy effect). Santino then dropped Virgil with his trick cobra before DiBiase dropped Santino with Dream Street. Lovitz backed down and declared DiBiase the winner. Cue up DiBiase’s music as Lovitz plugged his comedy club at Universal Studios. Lovitz posed with the Bellas to close the segment.

DiBiase came out with Virgil. Virgil apparently bought a suit to upgrade from the plain white t-shirt on Raw last week. Striker said DiBiase has “adjusted for inflation” to give Virgil a contract three times the sum of what his father paid Virgil.

TED DIBIASE, JR. vs. R-TRUTH
Early on, Virgil was the most over with the live audience, as they chanted “Virgil” repeatedly after the bell sounded. DiBiase became frustrated early on, so he slapped Truth across the face. Truth then responded with a cold slap to the face that seemed to legit knock out DiBiase. Either DiBiase was selling like beautifully or he was legit KO’ed by Truth’s blow, as he wobbled over to the corner and didn’t sell follow-up punches. Truth then knocked DiBiase to the floor with a clothesline and DiBiase tried to regroup on the floor. Virgil gave DiBiase an assist to gain control in the match, setting up DiBiase’s offensive attack. Truth then blocked a top rope move by DiBiase and teased a superplex, but DiBiase blocked and knocked Truth to the mat. DiBiase tried to balance on the top turnbuckle, but Truth crotched him and both men fell to the mat.

Truth started a comeback at 6:00 and landed a hip toss before hitting a Flatliner (noted by Striker) for a two count. Virgil had a stern look on his face watching the proceedings as DiBiase cut off Truth’s offense and landed a sloppy electric chair that could have injured both men. Truth then tried a suplex and he kind of turned it into a flip-over Stunner. The audience didn’t know how to react to that, as it wasn’t clear who actually scored the move. Truth then hit the Lie Detector moments later for the pin and the win. Post-match: Virgil entered the ring with the Million Dollar Title belt and tried to help DiBiase recover. Truth then hugged it up with the audience on the way out of the ring.

WINNER: R-Truth at 7:45. Not a good match. The action fell apart at the end while DiBiase sure looked temporarily KO’ed in the beginning. DiBiase could have been selling, but let’s say for argument’s sake that DiBiase was legit KO’ed there, the match should have been stopped to check on his condition. Truth going over DiBiase was surprising to say the least.
