Ted DiBiase‘s music hit to bring out DiBiase and Maryse. DiBiase had a mic in-hand. DiBiase addressed Jerry Lawler. He said Lawler’s career is over and his is just getting started. DiBiase told Lawler it’s time for him to step aside for the future. He told Lawler to give him his spot in the Raw Rumble. Lawler stood up, but Cole interrupted. He asked DiBiase if he’s ever met Lawler. Cole said this man is a Legend and Hall of Famer. He referenced The Showstopper and said Lawler is the scene-stealer. Cole said there is no way Lawler is going to allow DiBiase to take his spot.

Lawler eventually took the mic from Cole and told both of them he had something to say. Lawler said he’s not giving up his spot to anyone. He said the Road to WrestleMania has always been under construction for him. He’s been in WWE for 18 years and he’s never been in a match at Mania, so his Road to Mania starts tonight in the ring. Lawler said if it weren’t for Cole, he would probably be WWE champion right now. He said he knows he can beat The Miz and he vowed to win the Raw Rumble.

DiBiase slapped Lawler on the back of the head and Lawler collided with Cole. DiBiase ran off, then Lawler went to punch him, but DiBaise threw Maryse in harm’s way. Everyone calmed down, then Maryse slapped DiBiase for putting her in harm’s way. Cole said DiBiase deserved that. Maryse stomped off, then Lawler decked DiBiase with a right hand.

40-MAN ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH
Out as #6 was Ted DiBiase. Maryse followed behind as DiBiase charged the ring to clean house. Bryan recovered and blasted Regal with more kicks and striking offense. Bryan tried to eliminate DiBiase, but DiBiase hooked the top rope to avoid elimination. Out as #7 was John Morrison to a strong reaction. Morrison seemed to jog to the ring in slow motion as he hit the ring with a flurry of offense. DiBiase teased eliminating Morrison, then Regal suddenly eliminated Morrison, but Morrison landed on the guardrail like Spiderman. His feet didn’t hit the ground. Morrison then walked the guardrail, jumped onto the ring steps, and re-entered the ring. That was unique. Regal, shocked, was eliminated by DiBiase at 8:52.

Before the match, they re-visited the angle on last night’s Raw when the Bellas stumbled on Daniel Bryan making out with Gail Kim, setting off a cat fight. Back in the arena, Mathews noted Maryse is the only winner in the group since she scored the pin in a six-person tag last night. Grisham noted Bryan has held the U.S. Title for five months. Maryse turned her attention away from DiBiase in the ring and started talking to the announcers. She wrote down her number for Mathews and tossed down the piece of paper. DiBiase seemed to take a glance over at Maryse, which gave Bryan an opening to take control of the match. Mathews said he thinks a lot of Divas are into Bryan because he’s a winner and carries the U.S. Title gold. More chain wrestling from DiBiase and Bryan as they traded control. Bryan teased the LeBell Lock, but DiBiase rolled to the outside for a breather. DiBiase continued to shake his elbow and stall for time on the outside as they cut to break.

DiBiase and Bryan were standing in a corner jockeying for position. Bryan then ripped off a series of kick strikes as Maryse shook her head ringside. DiBiase came back with fist strikes to the forehead, though, and dropped a knee to the forehead. The crowd clapped it up for Bryan as Ziggler made a comment to the crowd about Bryan being a vegan. DiBiase then executed a dropkick as they cut to a shot of the Pros on the stage watching the action. Ziggler suddenly started arguing with R-Truth about the merits of Daniel Bryan.

Bryan and DiBiase started things off with some basic offense. Maryse had enough of DiBiase’s inability to defeat Bryan…after 20 seconds, so she tagged herself in, much to DiBiase’s chagrin. That also meant one of the Bellas had to enter the ring. While Maryse and Brie battled, Nikki tried to work on DiBiase on the ring apron. Brie took exception to Nikki’s tactics, then Maryse rolled her up from behind. Post-match: More drama with the Bellas arguing amongst themselves and Bryan trying to calm them down. On the other side, Maryse high-fived Michael Cole, then tried to show off in front of an upset DiBiase.

WINNERS: Maryse & Fox & DiBiase at 0:59.

When it comes to professional wrestling over the past 50 years, the name DiBiase stands out for many reasons. At first there was “Iron” Mike DiBiase, then his son, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase Sr., and now Ted DiBiase Jr.

Today, the youngest DiBiase is making a name for himself as a WWE superstar with his Dream Street finishing move, Hollywood good looks and over-the-top style. It appears as though this 28-year-old athlete, who returns to Northeast Ohio for the WWE’s “Raw World Tour” Sunday at Covelli Centre, was destined to carry on the family tradition.

“It’s absolutely not a surprise,” said DiBiase, calling from Tulsa, Okla. “When I was a young kid and I went to work with my dad, I was around guys like Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, Jake the Snake and Brutus the Barber Beefcake. Just these characters and guys who were larger than life. I’m running around the locker room hanging out with these guys playing with them, and I knew this is exactly what I wanted to do as far back as I could remember. My dad was a little bit against it because it’s tough. It’s not an easy career. It’s not an easy field of work, but it’s worth it if you’re willing to make the sacrifices and put the work into it.”
