High in the Mountains:

Salzburg is located near enough to the Bavarian Alps for an adventurous trip out. Aside from the natural beauty and breathtaking views which will appeal to the photographers amongst you, there are quaint mountain villages like Berchtesgaden to visit and have a break and shop in before you perhaps go onto the famous Salt Mines. The salt mines are an educational and interactive experience where you can dress up and be taken to the depths of the mine by experienced and knowledgeable guides who will be happy to answer any questions you have about the workings of the mine.

Make For Vienna:

As you are so near it would be a shame not to set some time out on a tour from Salzburg to visit the city of Vienna. Vienna is such a beautiful and inspiration place to visit it is hard to know where to start as everywhere you look there is something of wonder. If you have time, a visit to the Vienna State Opera is always recommended, as any visit to Vienna really is incomplete without it. Even without the music in your ears the building itself is something to behold. Another place that you must visit whist on a whirlwind tour of Vienna is the Schronbrunn Palace and Gardens. This is a world heritage site for good reason and includes the world’s oldest zoo the Tiergarten and the vast sculpture garden. You will not leave here without a huge amount of photographs and a lot of awestruck sounds being made.

As If One Mountain Wasn’t Enough:

No visit to Salzburg would be complete without a trip out to Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. Make sure that you wrap up warm so that you can appreciate just how spectacular and majestic the glaciers here are. It is worth having an experienced guide with you to enhance the visit. Afterwards, warm yourself back up with a jaunt around the souvenir shop. Needless to say the photographers amongst you will love the opportunities this trip provides you with.

The choices of what to do and where to go from your base in Salzburg are numerous. Just pack warm and be prepared for the mountains and you are sure to find something that will give you warm memories for a long time to come.
